ROASTED GRAM DAL & COCONUT CHUTNEY ...




















RECIPE:

Ingr:

Roasted gram dal                     1 cup
Coconut cubes                          1/2 cup
Ginger                                        1 cm
Green chillies                            5 - 6 
Salt to taste

For tadka:

Mustard seeds                         1 tsp
Urad dal split                            1 tsp
Cumin seeds                            1/2 tsp
Curry leaves                            1 sprig
Dry Red chillies ( into pcs)     1


Method: 

  1. Powder all the ingredients in a mixer as shown above. 
  2. Add little water and grind to fine paste.
  3. Transfer the chutney to a dish .
  4. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, put in cumin and mustard seeds.
  5. When they crackle add red chillies, urad dal and curry leaves.
  6. Stir for a mt to golden brown and temper the chutney.
  7. Serve with hot idlis or dosas.


Note:

This chutney goes with many tiffin items : idli, dosa, uttappam, pongal, upma etc.
